Technology now has a lot of benefits. Digitalizing these recipes can preserve the family culinary history for many generations to come.
THE CHALLENGE
How can I help families preserve the family recipes and their stories and make it easier for any generations to use?
The considerations I took:
Make adding the recipes easier with just a few steps.
Give it a personal touch to add a memory or a story for each recipe.
THE SOLUTION
With Love is an app that provides an opportunity to digitalize and store the recipes with a personal touch and share it among family members.
I conducted interviews among 15 university students between the age of 21 to 33 to understand their needs, expectations and emotions and here are some notable answers I received.
The findings gave a clear picture of what the user pain points and expectations were.

Competitor Analysis
I conducted the competitor analysis on existing apps to find out how I can make With Love app better.
I designed the entire flow keeping first time users and older generations in mind. The priorities were to keep it minimalist, warm tone and simple.
Design System
The idea is to give users the emotions of warmth, nostalgia and playfulness. So I created the experience with the following combinations.
Micro-interactions
Interactions give users the experience of a real app that helps them in differentiating the screens. I used move-in/out, slide-in/out and smart animate interactions.

Most of the time, when the older generation is gone, so are their recipes, quietly disappearing with the aroma of their kitchen and the stories they never wrote down.
The app is close to my heart as it tries to save the emotional and traditional values of Culinary culture. The process of design helped me understand how emotions can play a huge role in design and helped me grow as a designer—also tried illustrating the mascots for the first time in Figma.
What’s next:
adding the recipes through scanning the papers from Recipe books.
testing the ease of use among different generations.
